FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to receive my order?

We Don't keep stock for most items, we only produce upon order. Usually we expect a maximum waiting time of about 2 months, but there may be delays during holidays.

What is your return policy?

Eligible unused standard catalogue configurations may be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original condition. Custom or clearly personalised goods may be excluded where the law allows it and we state this before purchase. Return shipping is paid by the customer unless the item is defective, damaged or incorrect.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide except for some rare restricted areas. Shipping costs and delivery times may vary depending on the destination country.

My sword has a slight bend or surface defect, what do I do?

That is perfectly normal, our steel is softer than what is usually found in other simulacra. This means that it can take a bend more easily, but also it's incredibly tough, so you can bend it yourself by hand without fear of snapping. If you see pitting or surface imperfections, that does not affect the performance of the product. In order to keep prices as low as possible, we do not treat these naturally occurring imperfections, as the tool does not perform differently because of it.

Are your products safe for beginners?

Yes, our simulacra are designed specifically for newcomers to the sports that are tring to get into HEMA for the first time, or for veterans that just want a reliable tool that performs perfectly, without spending a lot of money.

Why are there no shipping fees on my order?

Automatic shipping is calculated for up to 4 complete products. From 5 to 9 products you may place the order and we will contact you with a shipping quote, payable when the order is ready. For 10 or more products, shipping is free.

Do you do custom orders?

Yes, we offer custom orders for our products. Please contact us directly for more information and to discuss your specific needs at info@duellatorum.com.

Do you offer a warranty on your products?

Consumer purchases are covered by the 2-year legal guarantee of conformity. Contact info@duellatorum.com with the order number, a description and photographs. We will apply the remedies required by law; normal wear, accidental damage and misuse are not conformity defects.

Where are the swords made?

Our swords are made in Italy, in the province of Brescia. They are designed, simulated and tested in our legal headquarters in Rome.

Can I have a discount?

We already offer among the lowest prices in the european market, but for bulk orders we could work out a deal! If you have a large order, please contact us at info@duellatorum.com for more information before placing your order on the website.

The 3D configurator on the website doesn't work, what can I do?

Usually the 3D configurator should work with the latest versions of all the major browsers, if you have any problems visualizing the products even with an up-to-date browser try a hard refresh (ctrl + f5 on windows or cmd + shift + r on mac).

Are the swords real?

It depends on what you mean by "real". Our swords are functional simulacra designed to look and feel like historical weapons, but they are not authentic antiques. They are not sharp and they are to be used exclusively in the practice of HEMA

Can you do sharps?

No, we cannot. Manufacturing sharps sword basically means going through the same process as for manufacturing firearms, in Italy. We do not produce weapons, only replicas.

Can I come see your workshop?

Our workshop in Brescia is a small place, and we cannot host visitors while guaranteeing their safety. However, if you contact us early, we might be able to arrange a visit to our headquarters in Rome, if you so wish, I might even offer you a beer!

Do you have a physical store?

No, we do not have a physical store. All our products are sold online.

Can you copy this design from this other producer for me?

Sorry, out of respect for our colleagues and fellow artisans, we cannot reproduce designs from other producers. We can try and replicate a feeling or maneuverability as much as possible, but it will be always done with an original design or an historical one.

Can I request a different steel/material?

No, sorry. Part of mantaining low prices is optimizing our production process around designs and materials. Changing the steel or material for a single order would increase costs and reduce our ability to offer competitive pricing.

How does this Duellatorum product compare with this other one from X/Y/Z?

We don't like to make direct comparisons with other artisans and swordsmiths. If we have experience with the product you are referencing we might list some measureable and objective differences, but every craftsman in this field offers their unique product, with their pros and cons.

Is the PoB in the configurator accurate?

Yes and no. The PoB (Point of Balance) in our configurator is calculated based on the dimensions and weight distribution of each component. While it provides a good estimate, it's still calculated on "perfect" 3D models. The actual PoB may vary slightly due to manufacturing tolerances and material properties.

Do you use AI in your process?

We recognize the incredible power of AI, however, we realize that when a customer pays, they expect a product made by us, and not one generated from the input of countless other people online without their consent. For this reason we have developed the NITFiP approach (Never in the finished product). What this means is that while we may be willing to use AI to help us with website, or automation of tasks, or even research, we solemnly promise to NEVER use AI in our design or production processes. All our products are human-made, human-designed and human-centric and always will be
